August Showcase:
Stories about the present

Congratulations to the winning storytellers of the August Showcase! 6 tales by students have been picked by our August Showcase judges, Eric Steuer, Brenda Wallace and Claire Amos.

A number of these entries responded to the New Zealand Transport Agency's 'Safer Journeys Story' category of Mix & Mash and go in to the running to win the Supreme Safer Journeys Story prize at the end of the year.

All the August Showcase selections are also in the running for the Supreme Storytelling Awards at the end of the year.

Daughters of Christchurch

This poignant tale about the Christchurch earthquake and the realities of life in present day Christchurch snapped up the $500 prize by combining clever storytelling, animation, and video.

Highly Commended

Lego Life Lessons

by Travis, Evan & Jared Manning

The Manning brothers follow their May Showcase win with this fantastic and informative Lego animation about getting to school safely. They walked away with $150 in prizes as the judges' Highly Commended pick.


Clever use of openly licensed material and important messages about road safety earned each of these videos a $75 prize.
